Ames, IA USA
Spouse/Partner:
Sue Wolf
Occupation:
Private investigator, semi-retired
Comments:

I retired from Iowa State University in January, 2016, and opened my new business as a private investigator, The Research Terrier. Sue Wolf and I married June 2009 after being partnered since 1998. After high school, I went to Blackburn College and married Tom Renken two years later. Being military, we lived in Rhode Island and North Carolina before making our home in Fort Worth, Texas. After we divorced, I stayed in Texas, worked at the Fort Worth Public Library for the most part, and finished my bachelor and master's degrees in English. Besides living in the Fort Worth area, I also spent time up in Taos, NM, helping a friend build a brick-oven bread bakery before moving to Iowa to be with my partner/spouse, Sue. I retired from the Parks Library on the Iowa State University campus in 2015. My playtime still consists of theater, acting, singing, directing, and producing at our local community theater. At home, Sue and I have three Yorkies. We also have a trailer-camper and plan to use that as our home away from home when we retire. I also work as a magazine customer service rep and, this is cool, I work at home and the company set up my computer and everything. I also am a field investigator for banks and mortgage companies, I serve papers for lawyers, and do some mystery shopping. In other words, staying busy relaxing.

UPDATE!
What a wonderful time at the mixer and the reunion! I think I amazed myself at all the little pieces of trivia I remembered about people. Meeting up with Meg on Friday was so special and connecting with Eileen and Mark on Saturday was the best. Shaun is still a piece of sunshine in my heart. And Roy is a great emcee.

School Story:

Besides being a full-fledged member of the Motley Crew, my favorite memories belong to my theater experiences, starting with "Kismet" and ending as Ado Annie in "Oklahoma, with Chicago dinner theater work through Mr. Lowry. Loved building the "De-Feat 'Em" Library Club float for home coming our junior year.

Blackburn College 1970-1972, music and theater
Texas Wesleyan College 1983-1986, BA in English
University of Texas at Austin, 1988-1991, MA in English

Steve was bigger than life. Great laugh, great hugs. A big old teddy bear. He was my steady beau then a good friend for many years, even marrying one of my best friends, Margie Emerson. I will miss the laughter.

Paulette, Margie Emerson, and I were unbreakable in junior high school. I remembering strolling through the mall after school, laughing and giggling, reading each other's stories we had written, figuring out the perfect names for future boyfriends. I wish we had been closer in high school.
